Exim Bank Of Romania Has A New CEO
Starting March 2009, Mr. Ionut Mircea Costea is the President&CEO of EximBank Romania, a specialized bank whose mission is to sustain the Romanian exporters and the development of the business environment by means of financing, guarantee and insurance products. Exim Bank Romania is a Member of G-NEXID.
With a vast background in banking and economics, starting with a Doctorate in World Economics, Mr. Ionut Mircea Costea commenced working initially within the Ministry of Finance where he worked his way up to become State Secretary in 1997 and Deputy General Secretary in 1999.
In December 2000, Mr. Ionut Mircea Costea became Deputy Director for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - the Department for Ukraine, Romania, Georgia, Moldova and Armenia. He was involved in many activities, including the coordination of general policies concerning the loans granted by EBRD, and participated in consultations with government representatives on behalf of the institution.
The Romanian Banks Association for Housing Savings and Loans welcomed Mr. Ionut Mircea Costea as President in 2007, while occupying the position of President&CEO within Raiffeisen Housing Savings and Loan Bank until 2008. At a time when the housing savings and loan system was just emerging through the Romanian banking system, Mr. Ionut Mircea Costea helped break new ground by launching the first specialized housing savings and loan bank and contributed to its growth and strength while creating a new and well established brand on the market.
EximBank Romania was established in 1992 according to the traditional ECA model, having the Romanian State as the main shareholder. EximBank's public policy mandate is to support the development projects of Romanian companies, especially SMEs, as well as to promote Romanian exports and foster Romanian investments abroad through direct financing, guarantees and insurances, by conducting banking operations on its own account and acting as an agent for the Romanian state.
